Steps to help show the best method to capture pill image. If questions come up as to what the optimal tablet should look like before taking a picture, click the question mark in the lower left hand corner to go through the tutorial at any time.
Just like a regular camera there are zoom, focus and flash functions to help capture the clearest image possible. Flash settings can be changed in the lower right hand corner.
For a more accurate recognition, crop the area around your pill as tightly as possible. Cropping the image helps pull color recognition from all parts of the image submitted.
Drug ID uses a learning technology that teaches itself to improve based on the number of images taken and analyzed by the software. The technology will attempt to recognize your imprint but will allow you to confirm and correct if needed.
Results are sorted and driven by the most exact match and then the next closest from there based on recognition. Results will provide more details on the tablet, brand name, generic name, strength, imprint, etc.
Searched pills can be saved and stored in “History” which can be accessed at any time from the top right corner.
Ability to e-mail results to yourself or anyone else like your doctor or pharmacist by clicking “Send Results” at the bottom of the page.
